Several celebrities took their chance and ran for national and local positions in the 2022 elections. Some tri-umphed, others lost.

Among the big winners from showbizlandia was actor Robin Padilla who not only won but also led the senatorial race with more than 26 million votes.
In Quezon City – dubbed as ‘City of Stars’ – actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde was hailed as Quezon City’s 1st district congressman while Aiko Melendez and Alfred Vargas won as councilors in Quezon City’s 5th district. Var-gas’ brother, PM, won as 5th district’s congressman; Raffy Tulfo’s son, Ralph, was proclaimed as Quezon City’s 2nd district congressman.
Meanwhile, Vico Sotto, son of actor-comedian Vic Sotto, was proclaimed mayor of Pasig City. Former basketball player Dodot Robert Jaworski Jr. won vice mayor. Actor Kiko Rustia and actress Angelu de Leon were both pro-claimed councilor of Pasig’s first and second districts, respectively.
Vandolph Quizon and Jomari Yllana were proclaimed councilors of Parañaque’s 1st district. Ryan Yllana also won as councilor of Parañaque’s 2nd district.
Basketball players Paul Anthony Artadi and James Yap won councilors of San Juan’s first district. Sunshine Cruz’s boyfriend, Macky Mathay, also won as councilor of San Juan’s 2nd district.
Actor Yul Servo defeated fellow actor Raymond Bagatsing as vice mayor of Manila. Comedian Lou Veloso won councilor of Manila’s 6th district.
Heading to the provinces, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Ejay Falcon was proclaimed Vice Governor of Oriental Mindoro. Ni Josea Jose-Quiambao, also a former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate, is now the new mayor of Bayambang town in Pangasinan, replacing her husband, outgoing mayor Cezar Quiambao.
Lucy Torres-Gomez was proclaimed mayor of Ormoc City while her husband, Richard Gomez was hailed as con-gressman of the 4th district of Leyte.
Jason Abalos won as board member of the 2nd District of Nueva Ecija. Dan Fernandez won as representative of Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Lani Mercado was hailed as congresswoman of Cavite’s 1st district. Her son, Jolo Revilla, won as congressman of Cavite’s first district. Nash Aguas won as councilor in the lone district of Cavite.
Jay Khongun, boyfriend of Aiko Melendez, was hailed congressman Zambales’ first district, Olongapo.
Daniel Fernando was reelected as Bulacan governor while Alex Castro won vice governor of Bulacan. Actor Javi Benitez, boyfriend of Sue Ramirez, is the new mayor of Negros Occidental.
Not all stars were as fortunate, however.
In the national post, Tito Sotto 3rd lost in the vice presidential race while Herbert Bautista and Monsour del Ro-sario 3rd failed to make it to the Senate’s Top 12.
Roderick Paulate, Bobby Andrews and Melissa Mendez all failed to get enough votes to be elected as councilors in various districts of Quezon City.
It was the same story for Arci Muñoz and Dennis Padilla who were hoping to win as councilors for Cainta and Caloocan, respectively; Claudine Barretto and Arnold Vegafria (councilor and mayor of Olongapo City); Richard Yap (congressman, Cebu City 1st district); and Imelda Papin (governor, Camarines Sur).
