Celebrities praise Sam Ryder as he takes second place at Eurovision 2022

Celebrities have come together to praise the United Kingdom’s Eurovision entry Sam Ryder who came runner up on Saturday night with his track Space Man.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson took to his Twitter to congratulate Ukraine on their win and took time to praise the UK entry.

He wrote: “Congratulations to Ukraine for winning the @Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

“It is a clear reflection of not just your talent, but of the unwavering support for your fight for freedom. Incredibly proud of @SamRyderMusic and how he brilliantly represented the UK tonight. ”

DJ Scott Mills also continued his support for Sam after putting him forward to represent the UK in the popular song contest.

He wrote on his Instagram story: “To people who said we can not win / will always come last, I hope we have changed that narrative. I’m so bored of the chat of people will never vote for us because of politics / brexit etc.

“Send a good song and act, Quite a lot of votes really .. be proud that we came second tonight.” Followed by a red love heart.

TV favorite Rylan Clark also took to his Twitter to share his praise for Sam, writing: “#teamSPACEMAN He done it. So proud. ”

An elated Sam could be seen smiling as at the half way point of voting the UK were still leading with 195 points, but after all the votes were cast it was Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra who scooped the top prize.

The UK entry Space Man has been popular across Europe, and it had a great reception in the arena in Turin.
